Details:
Passionate electric blues guitar weaves in and out of an impressive variety of song styles in the way of blues/rock guitarists Carlos Santana and David Gilmour. Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter James Howard wrote nine of the ten songs on “Celebrate Life” with the tenth song being an electric guitar blues instrumental of “Amazing Grace” done in the way that Stevie Ray Vaughn covers Hendrix’s “Little Wing”.

The CD covers the ground of Santana’s Latin Rock in the title track, “Celebrate Life”, to the funky blues of “Path of the Mystic”, to Pink Floyd style psychedelic rock on “Still Small Voice” and “Couldn’t Keep Me From You” to the Latin/Jazz/World sounds of “Lemuria” and “Eastern Sky” with James on the nylon string guitar. “Higher” is a nod to the happy modern acoustic rock of Jack Johnson and “The Greatest Love” is a beautiful acoustic guitar ballad reminiscent of Gordon Lightfoot.

Live, James and his band tear it up with a jam band improvisational approach to the music breathing new life into the songs and mixing in material from James''s other two CD''s “Electric Rain” and "Mayan Mystery", as well as new songs slated for the next CD release. Currently the James Howard Band has a resident gig at the award winning "Highway 99 Blues Club" every month on the last Thursday.

San Francisco Bay Area native James Howard showed an early talent for the guitar when as a teenager he was an in demand lead guitar player in local gigging bands. Inspired by the rock and pop music that he was hearing on the radio, James searched out the roots of this music in blues, jazz, folk, Latin and R&B and he explored all those styles.

At the age of 15 he played his first gig as a professional guitarist at a bar in Clearlake California. The bandleader glued a fake moustache onto James’ upper lip, adding a few years to his look.

Throughout The 1980’s James toured and recorded with a string of rock bands honing his style and developing his sound. In the 90’s he fronted his own band, culminating in the 1998 release of “electric rain” on Laughing Man Records. Electric Rain received some great reviews comparing James and his music to Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Lennon, and Danny Gatton among others. James continued to tour with his four piece band wowing audiences with a dynamic and powerful live show. The follow up CD "Mayan Mystery" was released in 2003.

After this period of serious dedication to his work, James took a break from performing and retreated to Mt Shasta where he had a profound mystical experience infusing him with fresh inspiration and a newfound authenticity.

Based in Seattle WA, James Howard and his band are debuting the "Celebrate Life" CD, a Joyous outpouring of artistic expression for a new paradigm!!!
