Details:
On The Porch is a 3-piece indie folk/rock band emerging from the backyards of Milwaukee in 2007 with a vision of Americana roots rock with musical influences including rock, folk, and pop. After Scott Hanson spent several years doing solo acoustic singer/songwriter concerts in the local Milwaukee café/bar circuit, he met Chris Bausch (bass) and Mike Hieb (drums) in August ’07, and OTP began. Just as the name invokes images of easy summer evenings, OTP’s music invites one to step up, sit down, kick back, dance around, or simply enjoy. They prop their feet upon influences that emerge in the Dylan-esque “Old American Face” to the grungy “So Far to Roam” to the radio-friendly rock of “So Many Places” to the Nashvillian crowd favorite “Saturday.” The tunes, melodies, and good time vibes get in your head and don’t go away. OTP blends insightful singer/songwriter vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, and harmonica with rock strong bass and drums. What comes out is different, but somehow familiar. Fan quotes after shows have included: “It just feels good.” “It seems you guys are having a lot of fun up there!” “These songs should be on the radio.” “I really liked the variety of styles.”
