Sub-Motive has emerged from the Seattle music scene this year like a bolt of lightning. Since their appearance in the first annual "Sound Off" band competition at Seattle''s Experience Music Project in February of 2002, their popularity with audiences across the Northwest has exploded into teen clubs as well as nationally renowned music festivals.

In September of 2003 they won the ''Battle of the Bands" for Paramount Pictures, UPN Channel 11 and Car Toys to promote the movie starring Jack Black called "School of Rock." With this win, Sub-Motive began a relationship with UPN 11 that has turned into TV spots as well as writing a jingle for their upcoming add campaign.

The trio consists of Aaron Hiebert on lead guitar and vocals, Josiah Bogle on lead vocals and bass, and Jason Edwards on drums and piano. Sub-Motive''s influences range from classic rock bands such as The Beatles, AC/DC and Jimi Hendrix to modern-day bands such as Green Day, Jet and Blink 182.

Sub-Motive has appeared at Seattle''s Bumbershoot music festival, the Taste of Tacoma the past two years, Issaquah''s Salmon Days, Lake Meridian''s 4th of July festival, the Fremont Fair in Seattle, Everett Parks, the Kirkland Arts Festival, the Capital Lakefair in Olympia, 1st Night in Tacoma at New Year''s Eve, and the Island Summer Concert Series on Bainbridge Island. Clubs they''ve performed at include The Graceland (now called El Corazon) in Seattle, Studio 7 in Seattle, Ground Zero in Bellevue, the Redmond Firehouse, Club Adrian in Tacoma, the Ballard Firehouse, the Paradox in Seattle, Carco Theatre in Renton, The Central in Seattle, The Brick House in Seattle, The Roxy Theater in Bremerton, and the Liberty Theatre in Puyallup.

All three members of Sub-Motive has participated in other groups ranging from classical to popular, bringing with them a diverse palette of experience in musical styles such as marching band and jazz band, as well as musical theater. Hiebert began playing guitar at age 12 and is currently an instructor. Edwards began drumming in 1999 and played in four different ensembles for Kentwood High School, as well as multiple local bands before joining Sub-Motive. Bogle has played bass since 1999 and is a member of Puget Sound Musical Theater. They all graduated from their Kent High Schools in June of 2003.

Sub-Motive is currently recording another full-length album, due to be out early to mid summer. Early versions of some songs are available on https://www.tradebit.com now.
