- TAIZEN Bio -

Michele, Chems, Javs and Jeremy

Taizen is now the name of the band which in 2002 created its first record under the name Taisen ("Es Beibii"). Three song writers found their way together to create this unique, bilingual music that is open to all influences, especially from Mexican and South American roots. It took Taizen over a year in the studio to craft their inspirations into the 14 songs that make up the latest album, "Cocuyo", released in 2005.

The group''s founder and song writer/composer, Javier Lorenzo (Javs), has been at it for 25 years. His Mexican roots bring the richness felt in the soul of this music. Javier admits a passionate love of the music of the 60''s and 70''s, especially the Who and Santana. Latin music and the Brazilian classics are also heavy influences that he continues to mine with the help of the band''s singer-song writer (Bossa Nova lover), his wife, Michele. He''s had three of his songs: "Es Por Ti", "Conejo de Ensueño" and "En Tu Nombre", getting consistent play on the rock-in-Spanish stations in Southern California, as well as on college and other radio stations throughout the United States. Now that the second CD "Cocuyo" is released, he plans on making TAIZEN''s presence known in the clubs and live performance venues of Southern California and Baja this year.

The partnership Javier has established with the band''s'' steamin'' hot lead guitarist, Lance "Chems" Jacobson, is solid gold. Chems brings a wall of screaming, flaming talent to the music with his versatile, multidimensional guitar interpretations. He owns and operates his own sound engineering company, as well. Chems is an academy-trained musician who has played for many bands, in front of thousands of people, and has performed on a number of albums in the past 20 years. So, besides being a strong creative force musically for the band, he was the man at the panels during the recording operations of the "Cocuyo" and "Es Beibii" albums.

Lastly, Jeremy Brown (Jerems), the drummer on the "Cocuyo" album, has provided the percussion ingredient that TAIZEN had been looking for. Jerems has experience culled from playing in different bands over the years, as well as working as a sessions musician locally in San Diego. He has four albums under his belt at this writing.
