Details:
Godwin is full of fire in his own soft-spoken way. And, if he has his way, the masses will once again sing the praises of the dance music vocalist. New York native, and dance music recording artist, Godwin is set to put the faces of this genre’s vocalists back on the pop culture landscape.
Raised on Long Island, Godwin began his career in a familiar place—the church choir. Even as a child he says he loved how music could stir your soul, and counts the choir organist and soloists among his strongest musical influences. He was also influenced at home. In the morning''s while his mom made breakfast he’d listen to the radio and found himself caught up in the different types of music. As he describes it, “Radio was so cool then. On one station you could hear R&B, rock, & country. Early on I felt that it was my calling to sing and make music.”
Godwin also counts Prince, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, Peabo Bryson and Luther Vandross among those who set him on his path to a musical career, and his role as the drummer in his high school’s band, that inspired him to start a band and write his own songs. Double Explosion was born; and like most young start-ups they rented spaces, put on shows, and charged local residents to attend.
Godwin’s big break came when he auditioned for a boy band and was selected. The Dudes we''re signed to EMI, performed at schools and interviewed with radio & magazines.
Their recording sessions even earned a mention in Billboard. While the group never made it past the record deal, Godwin was able to catch the attention of Vicki Wickham, who had managed Labelle. She eventually put Godwin to work on background vocals for Nona Hendryx.
It wasn’t long before Godwin’s “bring it on home” delivery caught the ear of celebrated dance music producer Tony Moran who helped him get work with mainstream artists such as Gloria Estefan on “Everlasting Love” and Selena on “A Boy Like That”.

Godwin’s foray into dance music started with his first collaboration with Moran, “One On One Love,” by Soul To the Rhythm featuring Godwin. Once comfortably established in the dance music genre, Godwin went on to record “Only You”, described by one critic as “feel good house of the highest order.” The song charted at #1 on the Dream Team and UK Garage Top Ten, reached #2 on the UK Club Chart and # 4, beating out Usher, on the BBC Buzz chart. “Only You” is also included on Pure Silk: The Home of UK Garage.

As a solo artist Godwin has performed in the U.S. and Canada. He’s been featured in Billboard, New Nation, Pink Voice, Touch, The Voice and various other music publications, and performed on television. In addition to the U.S. and the U.K. his songs have been released in Greece, Sweden, Spain, and Japan.

As a player in the dance music game, he has appeared on hits such as Everybody Dance Now! Remixed, Remodeled and Remade, The Greatest Dance Album in the World, and Chains (The Remixes). Additionally, Godwin has provided background vocals for fellow dance artists Pepper MaShay, Brenda K Starr and Tina Arena; and wrote “I Am Woman” for The Cover Girls and “It’s Always You” for George Lamond.

The new single & sound (So In Love) is what Godwin calls Urban Dance a melting of genre''s (Dance,R&B,Soul) Godwin says he wanted to get back to the vocals and telling a story within the music.
