Details:
Raleigh N.C.-based Milagro Saints have released their latest (5th) CD “Warm Soul Sunshine” on Moon Caravan Records.
This is a band influenced by the sonic territory of mid 60’s-early 70’s Americana ie: Mr Young, Mr Dylan, Mr Morrison, (Van, that is),The Band, The Dead, Gene Clark etc etc. Harmonicas, hammmond organ, acoustic guitars, and thin mercury electric guitars, appear regularly. To support that concept the band recorded the album live on Bob Dylan’s birthday May
24th 2008, and are putting out a vinyl LP version, (love that crackle).

Lyrically songwriter SD Ineson, inhabits a world of positive healing proclamations, like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young on even happier drugs. This is how “warmsoulsunshine” drives along, from the peace anthem of “New Found Land”(recorded as an intro and a more laid back finale featuring Muscle Shoals Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer, Will McFarlane) to the
title track, Ineson sings“Its a religion to be kind” next “Chances are, you’ve got everything you need” then “Can you feel the change of heart” “Seems like heaven to me, when you’re standin’ right next to me”, and “Shelter, Food and Energy, shared by everyone”

SD Ineson first came to the States with English ‘ironic’ pop rock band “The Jack Rubies” (TVT records) but influenced by a Dylan obsession, broke away to form Milagro Saints in NYC, with keys/harmonica/piano artist Lee Kirby, and singer & multi-instrumentalist, Joyce Bowden, (who’d been deep in the city’s New Wave scene, working with Joey Ramone, members of Talking Heads and
Arthur Russell). In a cast of thousands on this album, Roberto Morales plays the thin mercury electric guitar, Smitty plays lap steel, Richard Bowden (Joyce’s brother & member of Terry Allen’s touring band) added fiddle,
F.J. Ventre bassed it up, and in a “down-under” twist Kevin Bobal added yidaki a.k.a. didjeridoo, S.D. sings and plays acoustic rhythm guitar, Lee thows out the keys flourishes, and Joyce sings and plays clarinet, (although she is taking time out from playing in the band live)

Why the move to Raleigh N.C.? Mood Food a local label had just put out the original indy version of Whiskeytown’s debut, and signed the Saints, so they moved to a pretty vibrant scene in the Raleigh/Chapel Hill area. Other highlights for the band were being invited to play at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah OK, and more recently performing at a concert in
Lowell, Mass, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the publication of Kerouac’s “On The Road” it being his birthplace, and the Saints having written an homage to the writer on their 2006 album “Let It Rain”.

Ineson:
“Kerouac is a hero to me because his writing is a driven
belief in the restless positivity of creation, authenticity
of the moment, and that all things are good, no matter what
happens. Milagro Saints took that viewpoint as their road
map, and keep rolling on the fuel of good outcomes, and
a “things will be better” attitude.”
