Details:
Imagine Hunter S. Thompson and The Beastie Boys sitting at the bar - they''d be drinking Jamie
McCarthy''s funky rock brew blended in the inspiration of G. Love and Special Sauce, Jack Johnson and
Citizen Cope. Jamie McCarthy is back for round three with Into The Mellow, the follow up album to 2007''s
Strange Town and 2008''s Salvation. Into the Mellow features, America (get well soon), Gotta Be, his soulful ballad, and Bulletz Outta Me, quite possibly the
funniest, sing-a-long song ever written about the insane sexuality of serial seducing, nymph killing girlfriend. Because don''t we all wish we had that kind of lover
every once-in-a-while?
• SPIN magazine and WDET FM 101.9, sponsored Jamie''s release party for Salvation
in Detroit.
• Jamie''s song Meant 4 Me appears in the new independent film Sometimes in Life, directed by
Anthony Vallone. Sometimes in Life also features music from two-time Grammy winner
Ozomatli, Modest Mouse and Michael Franti and Spearhead.
• Jamie recently appeared in a cameo role as The Repo Depo Guy and as the musical guest in
Episode 8 of Ced N Teri, the popular new web series directed by Mikey Brown.
• Marlon Young of Kid Rock''s band and Vinnie Dombrowski of Sponge both played on Strange
Town, Jamie''s debut album.
• Jamie has done everything from jamming with Harry Connick Jr. to producing rap tracks for an
artist in Chicago.
• Key dates: Watch for Jamie at the Chicago Taste on June 30 and an additional festival date is
pending. Detroit''s leading alternative commercial rock station, CIMX FM 88.7, recently invited
him to play a show.
• Key press: Jamie recently visited WDET FM 101.9 (Detroit) for an in-studio performance/
interview, garnered airplay on WKQL FM 107.1 (Ann Arbor) and has taken the ink with several
media including Real Detroit, one of Detroit''s two leading arts and entertainment weeklies. And of course, SPIN.
INTO THE MELLOW is said to be the final and best record of the Jamie McCarthy Trilogy.

What’s up with Jamie McCarthy?
June, 2008

Jamie McCarthy was 20 years old when he earned himself the role of lead vocalist of the early 90s alt. rock band Modern Cocktail Party. After a year of touring and a fallen deal with Warner Bros. records he was swept into the world of commercial production and voice over work. In 1995 as he was about to embrace the music industry once again when his father, legendary Hall of Fame Radio host J.P McCarthy, passed away. Jamie then spiraled quietly into the depths of a Dewars bottle for 6 years. Appearing occasionally on the WJR radio show “Happy Hour” where he would perform experimental tracks that he had written under the influence, often quoting Charles Bukowski, and then leaving the show.
In the fall of 2001, he sobered and returned from a 10 year hiatus from the music business. He began writing music again after a trip to Santa Monica, California where he''d seen a homeless person hang himself from a tree on Ocean Ave. Deeply moved by the tragedy, he wrote Strange Town and it was the beginning of a project that he swore he would see through to completion. It was then that he vowed never to take himself or life too seriously.

His confessional storytelling lyrics are thought provoking, authentic and honest… and at times even comical. The listener will travel to some pretty dark places, but will often be left with a positive message and hopefully a smile. His sort of "life is short, so don''t sweat the small stuff" message is something we can all relate to. You get the feeling listening to his songs that he is quite comfortable with himself and finds comedy in the absurd world of deep self-importance.

McCarthy also produces and directs commercials and short films to support his addiction to making music and has begun producing tracks for emerging artists. McCarthy’s unique lyrical and vocal style has recently earned him points from the often-jaded critics in the music business.

McCarthy also has made recent appearances in the https://www.tradebit.com Ced N Teri where he shows up in the show as a repo depo guy and then plays the new song “I’d Rather Be Ced N Teri” or Sedentary, final track on Into the mellow. Coming in February 2009, McCarthy will host his own music and entertainment show Sunday nights on NPR, soon to syndicated across the country.
