Biography

Terry Kelly grew up in the heart of America''s "Heartland" in the college town of Champaign, Illinois and on a road called Route 66 during the 1960s. While students at the nearby University of Illinois were protesting the "conflict" in Viet Nam and listening to the folk songs of Bob Dylan, Terry was a ten-year old Beatles fan in the family car traveling west and listening to "top-forty" AM Radio from Chicago to Las Vegas. Little did he know, at the time, that many of those great songs he was singing along to were actually written by Dylan.

It would be the classic hits of the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, CCR, CSNY, the Byrds, and all the great "folk-rock" of the ''60s and early ''70s that would later inspire him to write songs and play acoustic guitar. In 1979, while attending college himself in Georgia, where he received a Fine Arts degree in Radio/Television Journalism from Valdosta State University, Terry picked up the guitar and taught himself to play. What was the first song he learned? It was a Bob Dylan song (of course).

Today he is a former New York area (by way of Georgia) folk/rock songwriter/journalist and artist now living in East Central Florida.

Many songs from his self-released ''Across America'' CD (2001), have been featured on folk and acoustic/roots radio programs in America and Europe. His music can often be heard along with artists like Chuck Brodsky, Slaid Cleaves, Ralph McTell, Kate Rusby, Richard Thompson, Billy Bragg, Nanci Griffith, Bob, and Jakob Dylan on BBC Radio 2 in the U.K.

Fred Migliore, the host of public radio''s nationally syndicated "FM Odyssey" program says; "He''s a great songwriter and a great guitarist. He''s performed live on our program several times now and you will be hearing much more of his music on this show in the future! His song, "Big City Night (Crazy Johnny and Southside Sally)" really takes you back to . . like my own days back home in New York . . good stuff."

Fred''s "FM Odyssey" show is a great mix of freeform rock and folk music that features many of yesterday''s and today''s best songwriters. It can be heard in Central Florida on WFIT, 89.5 FM in Melbourne and many stations around the country.

"Terry''s a great performer. He''s a real crowd pleaser." According to Melanie Velasik, Florida Today (Newspaper). "His song about living a former life as a dog, "When I was a Dog" has the audience barking, laughing, and cheering, all at the same time. Very funny in the classic Dylan talking-folk style."

"Great folk . . my cat even likes it. I''ll be playing several cuts from this album on my programme." -Genevieve Tudor, "Sunday Folk," BBC Radio 2, U.K.
