TEX and JOE BUCK

" they came from a country called Texas, where everything''s big
... even the mistakes"

With a minimalist backing of acoustic guitar, bass and drums, Tex and Joe Buck meld their two distinct voices creating a large diverse sound encompassing soul, rock, and reggae blown through the unifying bubble of Pop. They project a world as seen through their red, weary eyes injecting biting humor, broad political commentary, and yearning sensuality and, as would be expected from two strapping cowhands, SEX.

These two brothers, born from different mothers, were reared under the big sky on the distant plains of Texas by their father, Jett, who was impaled by a raging bull, (not DeNiro) while he and the boys were out punching doggies one day. Witnessing this horrific event forever changed T&J$''s emotional constitution, which can clearly be heard in the timbre of their voices to this day. They were left to be raised by the head ranch hand, Ol'' Blue, one of the original Buffalo Soldiers. Blue, a self-taught guitarist and virtual lexicon of musical knowledge, learned the boys to their very souls the craft of soul singing. These lessons given on countless nights under the stars and around the fire can still be heard in the depth and rhythm of their voices, each pulling a different but equally valuable trait from Ol'' Blue.

As teenagers, exiled in Mexico for both immigrant smuggling (per the federal authorities) and drug smuggling (per the Texas authorities), T&J$ did a brief stint as a matador team in the bullrings of Mexico City, where they got their first taste of adulation and stardom. Many of their unique stage antics (and early stage outfits) came from this period. And though their growing charisma and stage presence agreed with their growing tastes, their career choice made clear they had not come to term with there father''s death. All charges against T&J$ were eventually dropped, but they would never shake the label of rebel outlaws.

Much of their twenties were spent in the Texas Panhandle earning their keep by, well . . . panhandling . . . eventually fine tuning their act on the streets and in the local saloons. They finally left Texas for good when Ol'' Blue died suddenly, and ironically, after being thrown from a malfunctioning mechanical bull at the famed Gilley''s in Dallas, where T&J$''s musical revue was gaining notice.

One fateful night in Sante Fe, the boys were up to their usual antics with two wily Native American sisters, Veronica and Marsha, who slipped the unwitting boys some peyote. T&J$ came to in the Corn Exchange building on Flatbush Ave in Brooklyn, NY. They were looked after by a good-willed Sicilian musician/studio owner aptly called Spaghetti Western Will. He graciously offered his studio for T&J$ to record their first CD, PORNSTAR, a raucous celebration and cautionary (if not abridged) tale of their adventures thus far. They quickly became a mainstay on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, hounding the usual dives: CBGB, Arlene''s Grocery, The Parkside Lounge, Luna Lounge etc.

As a sad epilogue, Tex, who was never one to learn from experience, woke up, bewildered, one morning in a London flat, flat on his back and flat broke. Separated by the Atlantic Ocean, T&J$ now promote their CD, PORNSTAR on both continents, in the hopes of reuniting their tiny family to create new adventures . . . where everything''s big . . . even the mistakes
