Details:
the junes...
...are an acoustic inspired alternative rock band hailing from San Francisco. Inspired by such artists as Ani Difranco, The Sundays, U2, Wilco, and Sarah MacLachlan, among others, the Junes'' sonically rich sound and passionate lyrics combine to tell stories filled with raw emotion and hope.

The nucleus of the Junes was formed in 2000 when Jen Brown placed an ad in a weekly paper looking for collaborators. Over the next few years and a few lineup changes, the Junes'' sound was perfected with the addition of, first, Rafael Herrera on background vocals and drums, and then Fred Schmidt on bass. Both musicians bring years of experience and a sense of taste and competence to the rhythm section.

With the lineup in place, the Junes went into Broken Radio Studios in Emeryville, CA in Junes of 2003 to record their debut EP "The World and Everything In It" which was well received by fans and critics alike:

* "(I) like the vocals and production... some good stuff here. I like the melodies and musical approach and evocative imagery..."
- Songwriter''s Resource

* "...It appears to go from strength to strength with more ideas in one track than the last six albums that I''ve listened to... I don''t review anything that has no appeal for me so STHBA is full of stuff I consider worth it''s weight in gold."
- Kev Aldersay, "She Took His Breath Away" magazine

* "The Junes bring forth gutsy folk-rock on a roadtrip chicky-poo tip. Rainy day ballads for shaky hearts and soundscapes for real moments."
- Benji Holman, SF Spectrum

Since the release of the EP, the Junes have set about taking their music to the world. They have played all over their hometown including gigs in such clubs as The Red Devil Lounge, Last Day Saloon, Tongue and Groove, and all over Northern California, from as far north as Humboldt County and south to San Jose. The members of the Junes especially enjoy using their music to promote worthy causes such as saving the arts by playing the Richmond Main St. Festival, recurring gigs at ICAN Gallery, promoting cancer research by playing the American Cancer Society''s ''Relay for Life'' and playing benefit shows to support SF Mayoral campaigns of Tom Ammano and Matt Gonzalez.

The Junes online presence on such websites as https://www.tradebit.com, https://www.tradebit.com, https://www.tradebit.com, and https://www.tradebit.com has gained them fans in the states outside their native California and in other countries.

Together, these 3 friends draw from their multiple and varied experiences and influences to draw you in, to create a sound, to paint a picture, and to tell their story.

Jen Brown started the band in early 2000. Jen is a talented singer/songwriter who has sung in and fronted various bands for the previous 12 years in the Bay Area, in Denver, CO and in Kansas City, MO. She began playing guitar, writing songs and defining her unique style in 1995.

Rafael Herrera joined the band in June 2002. He is a skilled drummer, vocalist, and pianist who has played with several Bay Area and Southern California bands since the eighties.

Fred Schmidt rounds out The Junes lineup. He is a talented bassist with extensive live and studio experience, including touring across the U.S. with a band for 12 months. In 2000, while living in New York, he was a finalist in the highly competetive Long Island Music Festival.
