Melissa began arranging hymns as a young girl, while taking lessons on her family''s upright piano. When she was 16, she arranged her first "professional" hymn, Rejoice! The Lord is King, and wrote it out as sheet music with staff paper and a pencil. Today, she composes music using computer technology and her digital piano. She plays both the piano and guitar, and incorporates both instruments into her music, having currently written over 90 songs. Music is a way of expressing what God has done in her life, and she enjoys the gift that He has given her.
On the professional side, Melissa was homeschooled her whole life, then went to college to earn a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Music Composition from Moravian College. She also has a Master of Music degree in Music Eduction, with a concentration in Music Technology, from West Chester University. She has three years of full-time music teaching in a public charter high school, and now substitutes in her local school district.
