Details:
Species started back in April of 1996 when Hunter and PB joined forces to create a fresh and unique brand of electronic music. DJ Stereotype with KNON, the reigning king of electronic music in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex at the time declared Species 1996 demo as “Demo of the Year.”

Their first release came in 1998 when they published ‘Evolution of the Species.’ It was 10 songs of mayhem bordering on the industrial side of electronica. In 2000 they released World Wide Web of Lies clearly demonstrating their growth as artists. Species then took a hiatus to work with other artists and their projects.

Their latest self-titled release shows a new level of maturity as they combine the sound of heavy electronics as well as the addition of acoustic instruments for a more live feel. The structure of the music is almost classical in nature sometimes where each song is telling its own story within the epic context of the entire album.

Hunter began his music career at age 14 when he got his first electric guitar. He later chose the path of becoming a classically trained musician in college where he earned his degree in Music. He plays several instruments on the album including keyboards, guitar, bass, and percussion. Hunter also did all the programming, mixing, pre and post production work, as well as develop the concept art for the album cover and disc.

PB began his career as a classically trained guitar player at age 14. He later discovered his genius as a keyboard player and soundscape artist in 1990 with the advent of the EMAX. The lush soundscapes are attributed to his work on the album as well as his keyboard performances. PB did a lot of the pre-production work on the album as well.

Steve is a very accomplished studio musician who has played with artists of varying genres. He brought a wealth of talent to the mix by playing bass, keyboards, and percussion on the disc. His influence took the group down many new paths and can clearly be heard on track 8 – Coolo where he was the predominant artist on that song.
