--------------------------------------------
Smooth visitor from another planet, Soul Daddy was raised in the city of Atlanta, in College Park. Since the day he first touched a microphone, he has dedicated his life to making music that moves people.
Soul Daddy spent years in the Atlanta underground hip-hop circuit, refining his skills in emcee battles and live shows.
Once, after a week-long bout with insomnia, Soul Daddy found himself onstage in yet another battle. Realizing that he was losing because of his exhaustion, he desperately decided to freestyle in his naturally deeper speaking voice. Suddenly, the women in the audience bombarded the opposing emcee with a deluge of flying Hypnotiq bottles and high heels! The other rapper suffered a concussion and numerous lacerations.
Afterwards, Soul Daddy remembered his Uncle Ben’s words: “With great power comes great responsibility.” He swore he would never again use his powers idly, and has since focused his energy and resources towards making the planet earth a much more soulful place to live.
Especially for women.
“Lyrical as hell…”
This is how Wendy Day from the Rap Coalition has described Soul Daddy.
In addition to mix tapes, albums and guest appearances, his moving lyricism has carried him to many different places, from being a regular act at The Patti Hut performance nights in Atlanta, to competing in the Resurrection Rap Battles (which led to him being covered in Elemental Magazine) to spending several years as the host of Perspectives in Poetry, a local television show that featured artists, musicians, dancers and creative people from all around the city of Atlanta.
Eventually, his talent caught the ear of people outside of Atlanta, leading to performances at the GMA Conference in Nashville, TN; the Cornerstone Festival in Bushnell, IL, and touring nationally with members of the bands Five Iron Frenzy, Stavesacre, and rapper Pigeon John.
