Bio:
As a kid, I was carted around as an Air Force Brat from Kansas to Ohio to Guam to California and finally to Texas. It was then at the tender age of 8 my father purchased for me my first drum set. Much to my mother''s dismay, Dad and I began touring the local bars playing Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard for tips. People would come to see the little child prodigy play the skins. In the trailer park where I lived, neighbors gathered outside to hear my rendition of "wipeout" and "Hawaii 5-0". I played in church bands, school band, little theater groups, anywhere I could play, I did.
At 14, my cousin and I started a band at which time I discovered I could sing. I became the lead singer and drummer, and with the addition of a bass player, we kicked ass in the high school talent show. Soon after, I joined up with another local group and became the front man and lead singer. The only original song we did, which I wrote as I was also learning guitar and bass, was called "Won''t You Come Out Tonight" and sounded very Cheap Trick. Our high school band teacher, taking an interest in the band, entered us in a statewide contest (Oklahoma), and we were voted one of the top 100 bands out of thousands in the contest, which wasn''t bad for five 17 year old kids.
After joining the Navy and moving to Virginia at 21, I became involved in a church organization. Discovering I could sing and write music, the church directors encouraged me to record some songs in a studio in Chicago. After completing the recordings, I was signed to a contract with the church and played for various congregations around the country. My songs "Can''t Hide from Time", "Salvation Train" and "Somewhere" were featured on their international radio program.
I began to write more secular mainstream music, influenced by my favorite writers such as John Fogerty and Paul McCartney, and go back to playing in the smoky clubs I had always loved as a kid. All my bands were well received and have been featured at one time or another in various music magazines. My last band, 7 Days from Jordan, was played on local radio, and was offered a couple of small label deals. I have had songs featured in student films and on music videos.
I decided to get into recording, and invested in my own studio where I recorded demos and full length CD''s and even radio commercial''s with several area performers. After closing the studio because of time and money constraints, I was hired by another studio as an engineer and soon learned the art of digital recording.
I am at the moment concentrating on writing, performing and recording my own music. The CD "King for a Day" was written, performed, recorded and produced by me in my studio. I have written hundreds of songs, 20 or so of which I play and have recorded.
My goal is to perfect my abilities, have a good time doing what I love, and do it for as many people as possible. What can I say, I like the attention!
