I studied art in college and pursued a career as a painter for several years, before setting my sights on the potentially even more lucrative career of professional poet! Chronic malcontent and changer-of-gears, in the mid-nineties I returned to my boyhood love of songwriting, and played solo as a singer/songwriter in the St. Louis area, and in the three-piece band Pye-Dog. I was once named ''Best-Un-Folkie Coffeehouse Folkie'' and ''Best Songwriter'' in separate years, in our local weekly, The Riverfront Times. In the mid-oughts, I have gone back to many of my earlier avocations, loves and interests, and have started painting again, writing poems and essays, working on restoring and modifying guitars, and continuing my songwriting and musical pursuits, veering from a years-long submersion in country-blues, to the Junk-Jazz of nineteen-fifties'' New York.
