Details:
Drew Charles Schrimsher is a 19 year old singer/songwriter with an acoustic foundation and a pop flair. He goes under the artist name Charles Boston, chosen in part because of his middle name. He has been writing music for two years, and has positive lyrics that have a Christian influence. Charles lists vocalists Anthony Green, Brandon Sallar, and Craig Owens as major inspirations for his own singing. His music style is influenced by Regina Spektor’s funky approach. Charles grew up in Gallup, a small town in northwestern New Mexico. Gallup is not a music-based town, so Charles chose to attend school at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where he would have a better opportunity to spread his music on and around a college campus.
Charles Boston recently finished his second EP, called The Truth About Fictitious Facts, which he will be releasing on Myspace, PureVolume, and OurStage. His first EP, which he recorded Summer 2008, is called Chasing Sunrise. His song, “When You’re Sleeping” is currently on the United by Grace CD by Quickstar Productions.
Growing up listening to his dad play in a garage band, Charles was immediately hooked on music at a young age. He started playing music at age 14, learning to play the guitar, bass, and piano. Charles then started playing live music in his local church youth group. He led the youth praise group, participated in church musicals, and even directed his own musical. He has continued to play and write music, and endeavors to make it his career. Charles is constantly inspired by his surroundings and experiences. He writes his music from these experiences, which makes his music personal yet incredibly relatable. When asked about why he chooses to write music, Charles says, “Most important to me is making music I love that will inspire fans to feel good about themselves and to have joy in their lives.”
