The Boston music scene has spawned many notable musical acts such as Guster, Letters to Cleo, and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones; all groups who have found mainstream success. One of Boston''s latest offerings to the music scene is Tides, a rock band whose explosive sound and expressive lyrics have stirred together a new shade of pop all its own.
While founded in 2004, Tides has been an ever-evolving project of musicians and best friends since 1999. Members Matt Benjamin, Andrew English, Eric Michaud, Dan Robinson, and Andrew Sutherland continually recognize their shared passion for creating energetic, soulful pop music and performing dynamic shows for audiences.
"Keep it a Secret," Tides debut album, is a remarkable five-track collection that instantly captures the listener with an addictive groove heard in the opening track, "I Wait". The band easily navigates the familiar emotional landscape of hindsight and introspection through tracks such as "Spinning" and "Deep"; two songs where forlorn undertones guide driven guitar rhythms and soaring vocal lines. Additionally, the mesmerizing push and pull crescendo of "Out of Time" balances the quiet subtly of "Tell Me", the album''s closing track, which boasts lyrics of unrequited love, laced within an evocative melody.
