Compliments of Gus had only just released their debut EP, Watch, when they went back into the studio to record There And Somewhere Here. Recorded over the last few months of 1999, There And Somewhere Here presents a much more cohesive collection of songs, recorded and produced at Melbourne''s famed Baker Street Studios.
Claire Hazzard, another Melbourne based artist at the time, was invited to join the band on Angels, which was to go on to become one of the band''s biggest hits, and set the scene for the more mature writing that was to follow on later releases. Another point of seriousness closed out the album, with a poignant piano and vocal setting of the Dylan Thomas poem, Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.
These songs contrast with the zaniness of Drain Trippin'', the pop-punk of Fashion Victim, and classic rock of Greatest Gift, a top radio 30 song on Christian radio.
Included with this album are two bonus tracks - Forgiveness from the band''s debut EP, Watch, and a 30 minute interview with Justin and Jared.
