Details:
Tim Walsh is one of the pioneers of laser light shows in the world, and has been earning his living by creating music and laser shows for over twenty years. As far back as 1977 he was using lasers in his work, and even found himself teaching holography. He graduated with a degree in Music Composition from the University of North Texas. Tim is a capable musician, having been a co-founder of and performing with the Grammy award-winning band Brave Combo for four years playing woodwinds, and performing with the Houston band The Gypsies, playing music from around the world. He has been active in the International Laser Display Association and has been honored with thirteen awards for outstanding laser work over the past thirteen years.

Walsh is president of Laser Spectacles, Inc. in San Marcos, Texas. Laser Spectacles is renowned for its performances at festivals and venues around the state, the country, and the world. Using Tim''s custom designed equipment, the shows created by Laser Spectacles are truly awesome and amazing to watch. Tim''s stated goal has always been to achieve "laser synaesthesia," in which the audience is able to se what they are hearing.

The Amazing Crystal Laser Voyage is the soundtrack to Tim''s first full length laser show. "Ever since I saw the first Laserium show, I have wanted to create my own soundtrack to immerse myself totally in the best laser effects. Over the last ten years, piece by piece, I have created the music to fulfill that desire, and fitted them into this CD," explains Walsh. "The music came when it was ready, and usually was a complete surprise to me when it happened. Sometimes themes kept coming into my head, and would not let go until I developed them into the final piece. Other times, I would sit down and play the first thing that came into my head, and realize that this was the germ of a musical idea that needed development."

Musical development as composition is an important concept to Tim. "I like the way the classical masters, such as Beethoven, could work with a simple theme and develop it into a full piece. While I have done a lot of improvisation in my life, when I sit down do listen to something, improvisation or chance music does not interest me at all. I want to hear a composer working out variations, creating forms over time, and engaging listeners in hearing all the possibilities that they perceive in their musical ideas," says Tim. "I have tried to keep this development active in my own work. The MIDI sequencer has been invaluable in this respect; it makes music into a plastic medium that can be shaped and revised while I listen to it, enabling me to achieve forms that I am satisfied with."

Currently Tim is working on an innovative new live act in which he is able to fuse the lasers and audio together into one. By using a variety of techniques, among them MIDI control and laser-source audio, Tim Walsh enables the audience to see what they hear, and hear what they see.

Here is an exact quote from a forum discussing the Texas Zenfest, at which Tim Walsh performed: " Tim the Amazing Laser Light Show: how ever you spell that was pretty fuggin tight, Ive never seen anything like that in my life...far as I''m concerned he was BILL NIE (the science guy) on crack ...truly he rocked!"
