Tracy Jane Comer, a native of North Carolina now living in Madison, Wisconsin, is one to watch in contemporary acoustic music. A multi-instrumentalist and captivating performer, Tracy earned nominations for both BEST ACOUSTIC ARTIST and BEST ACOUSTIC ALBUM (for Second Wind) by the Madison Area Music Awards in 2004 and again in 2005 for BEST ACOUSTIC ALBUM (Quietly There) and BEST ACOUSTIC ARTIST (as part of folk trio Sticky Fingers, also on CD Baby). Her original acoustic creations are subtly influenced by a varied musical background that includes classical, pop, folk, rock, show tunes, choral music, and early music.

In addition to the nomination for BEST ACOUSTIC ALBUM, two songs from Second Wind earned honors from SONG OF THE YEAR international songwriting contest -- "A Father''s Lament" (finalist, September 2004) and "The Heart Remembers" (Honorable Mention, August 2004).

Tracy has spent most of her life in musical pursuits, including study at undergraduate and graduate levels as well as years of private study in piano, cello, guitar, voice, and fiddle. Now she has turned her attention to exploring and sharing her own unique voice in the contemporary acoustic world. She has been compared to greats such as Joni Mitchell, Dar Williams, Emily Saliers, Judy Collins, Patty Griffin, and Shawn Colvin. A frequent invited guest on local media, she performed three full television concerts in the last year (WISC/UPN14''s Urban Theater, WYOU''s Worth Watching and WYOU''s Perpetual Commotion) and made numerous guest appearances on local radio and television programs including Wisconsin Public Radio''s Higher Ground with Jonathan Overby, WORT-FM''s Pastures of Plenty, and WB57-TV''s Friday Night Jam. Wisconsin Public Radio listeners have also heard her music on Simply Folk. She has opened shows for notables such as Peter Mulvey, LJ Booth, Cathy Barton, Celia, and Mary McCaslin.
