Alex Ray and The Last Place have been a band for three years. It''s founding members, Alex Ray and Adam Nergenah, met in 2006 and immediately began playing small venues and coffeehouses across southern Illinois. But their goal was for something bigger. With the addition of Austin Ray on drums and Dave Ruvolo on bass, the band was complete. The sound was fuller. The ideas were richer.
They began to play the club circuit in St. Louis including Cicero''s, The Creepy Crawl, The Bluebird, and FUBAR. They also began branching out to Springfield and have no plans of stopping there. They are also favorites on their own school''s campus at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
After two years of demos (recorded in Alex Ray''s home studio), the band was ready for more. They entered the Greenville studio of St. Louis'' own Luke DeJaynes and Dustin Burggraaf (of Fundamental Elements) in the Fall of 2008 to record their first full band EP entitled "Ready Set..."
With an EP under their belt and a set of shows to come, Alex Ray and The Last Place are ready to take the St. Louis area, and anywhere else, by storm. They offer a unique blend of Rock, Pop, a little bit of acoustic, and a little bit of Soul, with lyrics that are uplifting and conversational. They pride themselves in their versatility and their hard work. Their lyrics offer a variety of topics from viewpoints of today''s society, the ups and downs of relationships, and stories that many can relate to.
The band is ready to make things happen and won''t stop working until they get there.
