MP3 Transit Belle - EP

On their Steve Albini recorded debut ep, this NYC trio relies on frenzied rock hooks and thunderous beats to guide them. For fans of Quicksand, Chavez and Sonic Youth.

5 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Emo, ROCK: Punk

Details:
Taking their name from WWII U.S. Air Force bomber, Transit Belle formed in 2002 in New York City. Like a Zeppelin-meets-Fugazi brush fire, Transit Belle brings big hooks and smart melodies. And although making music is what brought these three together, it''s all done with one purpose in mind - to play it live.

Their debut EP is the result of their 2003 collaboration with legendary engineer Steve Albini. With Albini''s ability to harness the same big sound of their live shows, the EP highlights the best of those sessions.

"Transit Belle is a saviour, and a bold reminder that there is hope in the myriad of mundane music that''s out there."

-Storyline Records

"It''s (almost) all been done as far as a lot of music goes, but Transit Belle understand that and it''s clear they''re out to create something different."

Stephanie Myers, The Deli

"Transit Belle''s Steve Albini-recorded, self-titled and-released
EP proves that the trio will have no trouble keeping up."

"In the songs on this disc, you can hear the influences, however subtle, of old glam rock, old garage rock, even a tinge of the grunge thing, but this band is first and foremost about writing good songs, plugging in, and playing them loud. Guitar, bass and drums, no frills, no exuberant effects, just straight-ahead rock and roll. And, as such, there''s a rawness that pervades, that in-your-gut attack one gets from a powerful trio. Vocals are of the emotional type, as if the singers actually believe the lyrics they are singing. And how often does that happen nowadays? "Goliath," which clocks in at just over two-and-a-half minutes, has an urgency to it, with a nice melodic twist in the chorus that might make you think of Paul Westerberg. While the longest cut, "Chemikalian," begins slowly, building a hypnotic feel before eventually giving way to some wrath. A good solid effort from what I am sure is a great live band."
