MP3 Travis Larson Band - ROCK: Instrumental Rock

This is one seriously hot instrumental rock guitar album; many of the tracks fly along on a wave of riffs and rhythms but rarely would you label it as "metal" although it decidedly
rocks.

Details:
"First album from a new name to watch as this is one seriously hot instrumental rock guitar trio.

Fourteen tracks allow the musicians all the room they need to show you that they can definitely whip up a storm while still retaining that vital sense of melody to make the songs flow so well. That, allied to a fantastic set of arrangements where dynamics plays a crucial role, means that this is music that positively glows. The average track length is around four minutes and this is absolutely perfect, distilling the electric guitar-driven essence that is this red-hot trio into one fantastic composition after another, ensuring no self-indulgence, and plenty of expressive playing.

Many of the tracks fly along on a wave of riffs and rhythms but rarely would you label it as "metal" although it decidedly rocks. Then you get a track like ''Nameless'' that takes a more languid path yet remains strong but builds into a swirling storm of a track nevertheless, the guitar work so full of feeling while the rhythm section seem to hold it all together effortlessly.

Special mention must be made of the production which is crisp, sharp and crystal clear. But, above all, it is the lead guitar work that shines and it''s all about feeling, which every track on this album has by the bucketload, as it largely drives a rock guitar path through some strong tunes and superior playing all round - a magnificent
debut for sure."

The Travis Larson Band is Travis Larson (guitar), Jennifer Young (bass), and Dale Moon (drums). Night after night, week after week for seven years, the trio has brought its muscular, melodic brand of original music to venues throughout California. Known for engaging compositions and breathtaking musicianship, the Travis Larson Band appeals to those who like their rock and roll with a little depth. Emotional depth. Intellectual depth. Musical depth. From adrenalized, up-tempo rock to lyrical, acoustic ballads, TLB albums, DVD, and live shows touch all of those hard-to-reach places.

The sonic and musical quality of TLB albums might lead some to assume that the Travis Larson Band is simply a product of the studio. Don''t, however, let the attention to detail and brilliant production quality fool you. As the newly-released DVD, Rock Show, will attest, TLB is first and foremost a live beast. This is not one of the many progressive rock projects out there with studio musicians hired to play someone else''s music. For this band, the whole point of making a CD is to get out and support it with live shows. When you catch the Travis Larson Band live, you will feel the chemistry of a band that''s been hammering it out in the clubs, theaters, festivals and stadiums for seven years, sharing stages with such legendary acts as Ted Nugent, Elvin Bishop, Bill Bruford''s Earthworks, Band of Gypsies drummer Buddy Miles, King Crimson''s Trey Gun, Gary Hoey, and Adrian Legg. TLB''s 2001 release, Suspension, features a guest appearance by Grammy-Award winning bassist Victor Wooten.

Adding to TLB''s live appeal is the band''s incredible versatility. The sound of the band is sometimes that of a stripped-down, aggressive power trio, and sometimes that of a six- or seven-piece ensemble, complete with strings, keyboards and electronic percussion. The band is not afraid of using whatever means necessary to bring the album sounds to the stage, even if it means the bass player playing keyboard parts with her feet, the guitar player doubling his parts with MIDI-assisted strings, or the drummer performing electronic percussion parts along with acoustic drums. The sheer sonic quality of TLB live shows is unmatched. Strong professional relationships with Ernie Ball, MusicMan, Mesa Boogie, and ElectroVoice ensure that the music is always brought to the audience via the best gear available.

Admittedly, there are good reasons not to play music this challenging in front of a live audience; it''s risky, and it takes a lot more energy than playing three-chord pop. But it''s that very danger and challenge that makes a TLB live show so engaging. Night after night the trio throws down music that was created without consideration for whether it''s easy or even possible to play live. The result is beautiful and ugly, elegant and raw, honest and naked. It is always engaging and always well received. Experience it.
