Exposed to Indian Vedic culture from the very beginning of my life, chanting mantras and reading the Vedas always was a daily activity for me. From the age of 5 I learned bhajans (sacred songs from India). Having Indian heritage from my mother’s side, seemed to enable me to capture the essence of the culture, feel the music with my soul and sing the songs with all of my love.
At 3 years old I learned how to play kartals (Traditional Indian hand cymbals)and when I turned 8 I learned how to play the mridanga (drum) and lead kirtans (participatory chanting). I performed classical Indian dance called Kathak, which represents a storyteller who recounted Lord Krishna’s pastimes in the temples and danced them in a state of ecstasy.
Completed on April 26, 2008, Getting Connected is variegated with music from India, South America, and USA. Each song is unique and easy to listen. It satisfies a great range of musical and spiritual taste.
I completely participated in the mix and arrangements to finally capture the way I envisioned this project to be. The participation of well known musicians, from different countries gives it the touch of unique World Music. My desire is to connect with the listener in love and peace, and together uplift the consciousness of the planet.
