Osezua

While commercial dancehall may have been more marketable entering the 21st century, few reggae artists stayed true to the roots path as did Xcdus Records’ recording star Osezua, whose name means “Blessed.” Born in Mandeville-Manchester, Jamaica, the enlightened singer has delivered four albums that simultaneously taught and relaxed listeners. Some of his earlier works Lessons of Teachings (2000), Lord Anointed (2001), Beneficency (2003) and his 2008 release The Reckoning, has brought universal praise, as he has fast developed a fan base in the United States, Canada, Caribbean Islands, Europe and Japan.

“The struggle of a roots man delivering a true Rasta sound in today’s climate of selflessness can be tough sometimes. However, If one sings from his heart and believes that his mission is under divine guidance, he will be successful in his endeavors,” explains Osezua. “I’m often reminded of a song by fellow Rasta Everton Blender who bellows ‘Jah Never Fail I Yet.’ The Creator has called me to this cause and I will deliver.”

Osezua believes that life is a mission of completion. To that belief he breaths every breath. A grounded father of three beautiful children, the talented musician also finds time to assist his mother in the family’s Chicago bakery as a master bread maker.

“To some the Creator gives many talents and gifts. A man must not sit on those gifts or God often takes them away. I’m first a servant to the Almighty. The Father says that charity begins at home. That being true, this is how a man must live - - to share God’s gifts with those closest and farthest from him,” said Osezua, in his trademark philosophical delivery.

A hard-working artist, Osezua is a constant figure on the concert and summer festival trails. He has share the billed with some of reggae’s biggest names such as Inner Circle, Beres Hammond, Tony Rebel, The Meditations, Junior Marvin, Judy Mowatt, Rita Marley, Everton Blender, The Itals, Yellowman, Burning Spear and the Wailers, among many others.

THE RECKONING

Visionary songwriter Osezua returns with his fourth CD The Reckoning, a full-scale reach into the social, political and spiritual aspect of this rebel performer. From his prophetic launching pad, The Reckoning may be Osezua’s most prolific and diverse album to date.

A cross between conventional one-drop reggae to a futuristic hybrid of global rhythms, the music of this exciting artist garners attention.

The CD features many tracks destined to be global hits. The pausing Without Mercy tugs at spiritual awareness, as it reminds man that its inhumane treatment of each other will have dire consequences. The CD also includes the powerful Narcotic Rock, a rock guitar mastery that implies that society marches to the drum of negative social paradigms.

Listeners will hear the CD namesake track The Reckoning, where Osezua continues his though-provoking head shaking style that he has been known for since forming his first band in the early 1990s.

Often an artist releases a work that becomes the staple of his or her identity -- The Reckoning is that work for Osezua. The world is encouraged to look, listen and learn from Jamaica’s next rising rebel.
