Details:
Ivan Tucakov (eevan tutsakov) writes and produces his original compositions that are all backed up by various world musicians. The result is a unique blend of music with influences of Afro-Latin, Middle Eastern, Indian Classical, Balkan, Jazz and many other forms.
Ivan grew up in Turkey and in Serbia, the crossroads of Eastern and Western cultures. Throughout the years he also traveled to Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Peru and throughout Canada and United States in search for new inspirations. He currently lives in Vancouver, Canada.
The new self-produced CD titled "Sunrise on a New World" contains a whole range of different styles of songs. These styles vary from passionate and moving compositions such as Cinnabar and Plamen, to upbeat rhythm and spirit lifting songs like Funky Bedouin and Hey Mister, to calming subtle tunes of Isla Mujerez (Yuandao), Anadol and Nintchgen (Tranquil Morning).
Many world-class musicians accompany Ivan''s nylon-string guitar playing throughout the album:
Neeraja Dange''s voice adds a North Indian Classical Music feel in Funky Bedouin. In the songs El Gharbi and Makumba, Aboubacar Camara sings in the style of African Amasumbou music, native to Guinea on the Western coast of Africa.
Tarun Nayar plays the Tablas in Cinnabar and Makumba, and the Turkish Darbuka in Funky Bedouin and Nada, adding Eastern-Indian and Middle-Eastern flavor to the music. Thomas Tumbach gives a very specific character to the songs with his moving and intricate fiddle style in Funky Bedouin, Hey Mister and Nada. Ivan Tucakov had played with these two artists for about 4 years in the past, during which time his style of music was developed.
Victor Chorobik, contemporary ambient music composer from Poland uses the Armenian Duduk and Tibetan Bamboo flute, giving essence to Plamen and El Gharbi. Christopher Suen plays the Chinese flutes Xiao and Diza in Isla Mujerez (Yuandao) and Nitchgen (Tranquil Morning). Chris Denis is on the percussion, exploring Cuban rhythms. Upright bass, didgeridoo, rain sticks and many other instruments contribute to the diverse World sound of this CD.
Ivan Currently actively pursues his musical career with his band Tambura Rasa. Part of the band are: Tarun Nayar on the tablas, Suzka on the Violin, Mike Michalkow on the percussion, Brian Poulsen on the guitar, Anand Greenwell on the bass and Ivan on guitar and vocals.
