Details:
From an early age, Chris Merola found out the power of guitar and rock music.
Having played in more bands then he can remember, none had the impact on him as did the Rain Deputies.
Shortly after placing an ad in the Village Voice, Chris found a kindred musical spirit in X-Pilgrim Soul and Columbia Records recording artist Marc Jacoby. With him they formed the no frills roots rock band: Rain Deputies Luckily finding one of the best rythmn sections in the area: Fred Gillen Jr and drummer Andy LaDue, the band was in place. Being one of the harder working bands around, they played all over the metro NY and were voted best roots rock band by Westchester Weekly on the strength of their live shows and debut release"Rain Deputies." The CD featured their show stopper "Rust Iron Sun" and "Somewhere In between".CMJ made them Jack Pot Pick, and turned Coca Cola on to the group which resulted in a cut from their cd https://www.tradebit.com COKES national radio campaign for a brand new soda.
Around the same time, Tumbleweed Mile drummer Pete Wilson was making his home with The Sons, who made their mark with their contribution to the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack---. Being from the same town the two bands often crossed paths and it was inevitable that members from the two bands would eventually work together.

Both bands soldiered on a few years finally calling it a day. Meanwhile, never being far from a guitar or tape recorder, Chris found himself recording demos on a four-track cassette deck which made up a large part of what would become Straight Answer in a Crooked Town. Chris and Pete stayed in touch, and in the summer of ''98, they started working together.
Straight Answer in a Crooked Town was released "as is", on upstart, cooperative indie label Cropduster Records. In support of the CD, Chris, Pete and former Rain Deputy, Fred Gillen Jr., performed heavily around the metro area gaining positive live reviews and press. In 2000, the band went to Austin, Texas to perform at SXSW - their last gig with Cropduster Records.
Shortly after leaving Cropduster, Chris formed Yonder Recordings to promote his music and the efforts of other kindred artists. Wanting to form a band with Pete, Tumbleweed Mile was born and Chris, Pete and Fred set out recording tracks in a barn in upstate NY, which would become the basis for Paint the Morning Gone. Recorded digitally and sounding nothing like digital, the songs are their strongest yet. The band is gearing up for a limited Northeast tour. For further information on them, stay tuned.
