We were born for a purpose to live not just to exist
I am a singer songwriter as well as currently holding down a full time job. I am someone who believes there is a longing in all of us to find out who we really are, to discover the truth to live instead of existing, the following is a short summary of what inspired me to record my first album titled ''Just Listen'' I would not have made it without the love and support of my wife, family and the unconditional love of Jesus.
In 1990 I was invited along with a small group from my church to sing and play guitar in the chapel at Birmingham https://www.tradebit.comadually the people in the group left and I eventually found myself on my own. At that particular time the service was quite formal until the minister left and was replaced with a new minister who had a more modern approach. It was during the early part of this transition that Terry the minister was doing a sermon on a Bridge over troubled waters and had a tape with the song on it, and asked me if I could sing Bridge over troubled waters which I did, I was so nervous battling with my lack of self confidence singing in front of 80 inmates but gradually I came to understand and accept this was meant to be. And I was surprised with some of the songs I felt I should do like, Desperado by the Eagles, and Wind beneath my wings.
I had no idea that 19 years later I would still be walking through the same doors. I discovered that over time I developed a bond with the inmates through being sensitive by singing certain songs I found a way to communicate to the inmates. The prison experience continues to be an ongoing inspiration beyond words.
Suddenly during 2000 like a tap being turned on and a prayer being answered I started to write songs, and it was during late 2005 I met Mark who I later found out ran a recording studio. I decided to take a break from work on Feb 2006, and having been writing songs since 2000 I got in touch with Mark who helped me to record my first album. The words in the songs reflect my experiences with my journey through life and i''m sure are shared by many others. I believe we are born for a purpose and have a destiny to fulfill. Who ever we are each of us has something unique, ordinary people doing extraordinary things. But how many of us ever find out who we really are and what we are capable of. The person who can have the most influence on our lives in what we do or dont do is ourselves, our greatest enemy is our self and the biggest battle we face is from within ourselves.
Our lives are a journey bursting with hopes and dreams, but for many of us those hopes and dreams are not realised and we can end up with something much less. It should not surprise us that we are meant not only to succeed in what we do but to help raise and inspire each other to do the same. Our experiences do shape and influence the way we live and think, and tell a personal story of our survival on this sometimes perilious journey. We find out how difficult it is to try to make it on our own, so we need others around us who will love and inspire us who will influence us to do the same.
Love isn''t love till you give it away
It isn''t always easy to love others especially when it cost''s us everything, that''s why we are given time to try and find out about who we really are and what is our real purpose living out this life. I spent the first forty years of my life literally in the wilderness, constantly pressing the self destruct button. Than in 1987 I decided to became a christian by following the teachings of Jesus, I had no idea what I was letting myself into trying to give up my old life, and going off into the unknown undoing a life of pain and emptyness. I later found out that I wasn''t living with a purpose but just exisisting from one experience to the next. Fortunately I had been given a lifeline by learning to play guitar and sing. But it wasn''t until much later when suddenly I started to write my own songs which enabled me to express my thoughts about our lives. There is so much more I hope if you read this and listen to the words on the songs it will help you on your journey.
