Details:
Mike has been a musician all his life, starting with flute in the grade school band. In adulthood, he turned to Native flute playing as a personal meditation and to balance out his life against all the electronica.
Mike has played his flutes at numerous venues - from churches to drum circles. His audiences are often entranced. Many have said they were carried away by the haunting melodies. Others have been brought to tears.
Totems features songs that reflect the spirit animals and concepts shown in the titles of the tracks. Some songs, notably "Bear" and "Wolf," are extended versions, allowing the listener to meditate deeply. "Great Mystery" elicits the sounds one often hears during astral flight.
Mike is a composer and arranger having written or co-written some fifty songs. He was the music arranger for the show “Pop Out of the Drama” and performed with that show for two years as guitar and synthesizer accompanist. He also appeared in the cast album. Mike recently acted as musical director for the MR Productions show “Remember When” featuring songs of the 50’s and 60’s. He performed in the show as well, playing guitar and singing lead and harmony vocals.
Over the years, Mike has been a church choir director, recording artist, director of music for a Milwaukee church, and accompanied many soloists. In school, Mike was the winner of the John Philip Sousa Award and played in the band and orchestra.
