Details:
Morti, formally known as Bill Hayes, is a songwriter from Canterbury. He was born, as was common at the time, in Walsall in 1984 and learned to play guitar 17 years later to impress his girlfriend. He composes primarily indie/alternative music inspired by the likes of James and REM but also draws on prog rock inspiration from the likes of Mike Oldfield, Pink Floyd and Dream Theater which gives his music an extra edge. He abhors religion but loves Jesus, writing songs from a Christian perspective but deliberately makes his music and lyrics accessible to anyone who disagrees.

His first CD album release, Spot The Deliberate Mistakes, has been in the making for two years before being completed at the end of 2008 and released in 2009. The album comprises polished versions of songs written as far back as 2002 with most songs being written during 2007 and 2008 as part of timed online songwriting challenges. Morti wrote and recorded the album himself by multitracking many different guitar lines and adding synthesised drums. The only exception is vocals, the album features six different singers (in addition to Morti himself) meaning the artist does not have to limit his songs to his own vocal range.

The album opens with an homage to Mike Oldfield in the form of Intransigence (meaning "uncompromising"), a 20 minute instrumental split across four tracks, and this is followed by an expansive second half containing eleven songs. Unconventionally large, the album contains a reasonable number of songs and great musical variety even for those who don''t enjoy instrumental music. The songs vary between straightforward indie pop songs such as City Living and Waterfall with some more sombre tracks including Snow Angel, Slept Through Sunday and the nine-minute epic entitled On The Threshold of Eternity, written about Van Gogh''s painting of the same name.

Early reviews of the album from those who''ve bought the album are very positive, including comments such as "it''s okay, yeah", "I like how you made it all in your study" and "I haven''t listened to it yet".
