Details:
"People who saw lead burner John Morris in Electro-luxe and Come on Thunderchild will love this stuff: there''s some 70s power-chord stompers, a little early-80s Lou Gramm-style "urgency," a sprinkling of the melancholic (a la someone like Ray Davies), and a nod or two to the Golden Age of Alternative."

--Tim Davis, Creative Loafing 05.19.04

Loud guitars. Big Hooks. Melodic voices. The sounds that perk up the ears of the four members of Charlotte, N.C.''s TyreFyre. Formed from the vast family of bands to be found in the Queen City, TyreFyre (John Morris, gtr. and vox, Shawn Lynch, gtr., Brent Dunn, bass, and Donnie Merritt, drums) brings together many collective years of rock, concocts a stew, and brings the resultant music to a boil. Let It Burn, a collection of songs penned by Morris over two summer weeks in ''03, is Rock and Roll music, here for all to taste and savor.

Rock and Roll in what sense of the word? Their music pays homage to a spectrum of sounds-- the melody is pure 70''s AM radio, the sound is blues-rock to golden age alternative, the groove is pre-Mtv, the lyricism somewhere between Nilsson and Westerberg. While they love the genius of such recent stalwarts as Stephen Malkmus and Rivers Cuomo, they rest their spiritual heads on the pillow of Badfinger and Wings (yes, Wings) era McCartney. When this sensibility met the production style of Justin Faircloth and his Cougar Camp (see Charlotte''s indie/alt heroes, The Houstons,) the resultant gems were pure power-garage-beauty.

Above all, the TyreFyre mission is to rock, and to move your soul in the process. They are dying to achieve, believing that powerpop and stick-to-your-ribs melody can change the face of our times.

So tune in to their station, dig the hooks, feel the rock, and Let It Burn.
