With a lifelong background playing various music - on clarinet, sax, and piano - Ty turned to the solo guitar form in late 2002 and began writing vocal compositions. This album is a part of that process.
With an 25-year musical passion steeped in the classical and jazz traditions, Ty has nonetheless spent a great deal of time unlearning what has been learned. With an eye toward the unconventional, he strives to compose and play using various techniques such as custom tunings, off meters, dissonance as a form of musical expression, and poetic double meaning.
Some of his influences include Cavafy, Seferis, the Doors, Steely Dan, Shoenburg, Bartok, Mingus, Ellington, Monk, the musics of west africa, Gamelan, Wayne Krantz, Michael Hedges, and many others.

All tracks recorded absolutely live, sometimes painfully so, in June and August of 2004, in Seattle, WA. All tracks composed and performed by Ty Alevizos, except ''Drunk'' which lyrics were written by Heather Bansemer.
