Birthday Suits formed in spring of 2005 and released their debut album Cherry Blue later that year. After the release of Cherry Blue, it did not take long for Birthday Suits to be recognized by music fans and critics in the Twin Cities. They were named the best live artist of 2006 by Minneapolis/St. Paul alternative weekly paper the City Pages.
After receiving acclaim locally Birthday Suits began to receive praise from music publications across the country. The Seattle Weekly proclaimed Birthday Suits to be, “an utterly explosive live band who are perfectly capable of restoring one''s faith in rock ''n'' roll with their sweaty, fiercely committed performances.”
Victim of Time praised the band by stating, “Birthday Suits are Minneapolis'' most utterly bombastic and unhinged duo of musical mastery known in the underground''s inner circles.
