Bringing back the tradition of meaning and substance to songwriting, "Caroline" is a 4 song concept EP by Brian Grissom.
"Caroline" is a character all of us can identify with at some point in this trip...
"...On Younger Days" sets the stage of the story. Told in reverse and from the eyes of the father, the young daughter leaves home in search of the ''something more'' idea that most of us are still looking for.
"You and I and This Road" continues the story of the character, who was left broken down and stranded at the end of "...On Younger Days." The character begins walking as she contemplates where she is going, and how she will get there.
"Caroline," the name of the character, literally picks up the story. Told from the point of view of a young man on a country drive, Caroline is picked up as a hitchhiker, something the driver normally wouldn''t do.
"Mile On Mile" puts us in a place we''ve all been. Resting our head against the window as we ride off in the darkness, tired and unsure. We can push forward and explore, or we can always come back home...
"Caroline" is a journey to be had by all. A home recording built over a 3 year period. "Mile On Mile" itself had 8 complete rewrites!
This album represents the best Brian Grissom has to offer, and is a necessity for any fans of singer/songwriters. We can only hope that "Caroline" is the beginning of a long, prolific career.
