Rock/pop songwriter/artist/producer James George Serrett''s third and favorite shrink(Gary, whose real name is Steve) is certainly earning his money these days. Why? Because Serrett seems more in touch with his ''feelings'' than ever(which is not necessarily a good thing). Highs are higher(as in the amusing painkiller-inspired Loving Me), lows are much lower(as in You''re Still Gone, I Hate Loving You, The Bottom Of The Pool, and Happy Anniversary, Baby), and reality''s getting harder and harder to accept(the devastating surprise ending of I Miss Your Smile, the catchy yet subtly poignant You, the inspirational(though sadly untrue) declaration in No One, and an unsuccessful attempt at trying again in the title tune The Death Of Love). Thank goodness this latest glimpse into Serrett''s musical trainwreck of a life ends on an upbeat note in a loud, smoke-filled bowling alley lounge with some desperately needed Joyful Noise.
