MP3 Twilight Broadcast - Variety Show
Sometimes we bring the Funk. Sometimes we get angry and rock out. Sometimes we get all sensitive on you and strum pretty chords on acoustic guitars. Sometimes we even tell jokes over disco grooves. Lots of harmony. Lots of energy. Lots of fun.

On a bleak and stormy December night, during the darkest point of the year 2006, the band Twilight Broadcast was born. But as Twilight Broadcast''s parents gazed into their bright bluish brownish greenish eyes, they saw a band with no boundaries, a band that would never settle into a genre, a band that would be energetic, write intelligent lyrics, and put on a show that would force people to get up and dance. ''What would the world become…'' they thought to themselves ''if we never knew what to expect from our favorite bands?'' This thought was disturbing, brooding, and unacceptable. So without further thought, Twilight Broadcast''s parents placed the band in an enormous basket, tossed on a poncho, and stumbled out the door into the same blackness that presently filled their hearts. As Twilight Broadcast''s parents paraded through the pouring rain, they stumbled over loose gravel and slick grass until they finally arrived at a river. They bid the band farewell and floated them downstream, never to be heard from again.
Twilight Broadcast was lucky though. The river was the Colorado River, and the current lovingly carried them to a little town called Austin, TX, where it lifted them tenderly onto its shore. Disheartened and lost, Twilight Broadcast cried a melodious song of heartbreak and abandonment. The guitar tones were pure, and soulful. The bass was heartfelt and deep. The drums were intricate and refined. But it was the harmonies that caught the ears of a passing Austinite couple. The couple found the band covered in dirt and sand, injured, and alone. From that point on, they were determined to nurse Twilight Broadcast back to health.
For the next two years, the Austinite couple raised Twilight Broadcast into strong musicians. The couple started out feeding the band bottled milk as well as music like John Mayer, Prince, The Roots, Dave Matthews, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Police, and Bob Schneider. The band soon weaned off of bottled milk, and began to play to eager audiences at reputable venues like Stubb''s BBQ, Momo''s, and Lucky Lounge on a regular basis. In addition, successful reviews of their self-released "Vital Signs E.P." motivated Twilight Broadcast to record a full-length album. The band spent the next year on the project, and before they knew it "Variety Show" was in high demand even before its release date. Finally, Tiny Hawk Records, an independent record label and publishing company, took interest in the band. Although Twilight Broadcast''s adopted parents were sad to see them all grown up, they knew that it was time to say goodbye. So Twilight Broadcast hugged them, kissed them on the cheek, and walked confidently out the door, ready to take on each new challenge that would come it''s way.
