Today, Valentina''s work as a composer expands to the songwriting arena. Her dedication to the study of Venezuelan music and its connections with Caribbean traditions and South American styles, help her bring out the uniqueness of these traditions in her songs. The integration of poetic writing, music and rhythms has always been Valentina''s vocation and craft in the world of music production, composition and performance.
With her first CD Rojos y ocres (Reds and Ocher) Valentina launches her career as a singer songwriter. Many Venezuelans musicians are a key part of this recording. The band on the CD features Leo Blanco on piano, Adolfo Herrera on drums, Bernardo Hernández on bass, guitar and Puerto Rican cuatro, Ana Norgaard, Ernesto DÃaz, Jesús DÃaz and Jackeline Rago on percussion, as well as Donna Viscuso on flute and harmonica, Adrian Ross on trumpet and Luis León on trombone.
