I consider myself a musical purist, and I hope you enjoy my music in that same vein. I am finishing my undergraduate work in Media Music at Brigham Young University and will be starting graduate school in about a year as well. I am a songwriter by trade and passion. Billy Joel and Adam Duritz from the Counting Crows are my all-time idols and I look to them and their music for inspiration every time I’m writing. I truly believe in the art of the song and its power to influence and change the world. Music is the conduit for oftentimes hidden emotions and I believe it is very important for us to feel the gamut of human emotions in our lifetime—music and other forms of art being the facilitator. My aim with my music is to extract those emotions out of people upon listening, as well as catching you off-guard with well-thought out lyrics and catchy, unforgettable melodies. My music is my most personal expression of myself as an individual, as a common human being and as an artist. We are all in this human experience together and I am so grateful for all the incredible music out there that comforts me, excites me, soothes me and makes me love again and again.
I hope Blue Cold Room can comfort and soothe you in your lonely days, or that Come to Me will make you want to fall in love again, or maybe You Look Lovely can put into music what words cannot say in that awful break-up. When you listen to this music know this: while the music is intended to be entertaining I am motivated by underlying meanings, metaphorical representations of real life, and ultimately in saying something of value, or speaking a truth if you will. John Mayer is a great example of doing this and I follow his pattern in doing so. Enjoy the music for what it’s worth to you and when you feel these emotions tell your friends so they won’t miss out!
