Folk-rock duo Acoustic Travellers - Luca Zan, guitars & vocals, Giovanni Masino, guitars & vocals - formed in Bologna, Italy, at the end of the 90s.
In the early years, the duo focused on reinterpreting classic songs of American and British rock and folk classic traditions (Dylan, Beatles, CSN&Y, Simon & Garfunkel and many others), with a peculiar taste for essential acoustic arrangements and vocal harmonies. Through the years, the duet performed in some of the most reputable venues of the local Bologna music scene.
In the last few years, Acoustic Travellers turned their efforts to songwriting, and "Don''t Follow the Sun" is their first album composed entirely of original tracks.
While still grounded on American and British folk-rock tradition and on acoustic arrangements, the album showcases a rich variety of composing and arranging styles. You will find a traditional rock approach in "Nobody", an intimate piano-based ballad in "Taken With You", a west coast flavored arrangement in "Too Far Behind", a more complex and sophisticated orchestration in the title track "Don''t Follow the Sun", and so forth. Each song, in fact, displays a slightly different take on a common theme: a passion for melody, vocal harmonies and acoustic sounds.
For the recording of the album, drummer/singer Marco Guerra, bass player/singer Alberto Carapelle and violinist Francesca Zan collaborated with Acoustic Travellers.
