Professor A.k.A Pro Wonder
There are a lot of Pros & Cons in society and as they drip down they spill over cities, like Chicago into individuals like you and me. I was born Malcolm Lewis in Dec of 1980. Settled into the Chicago lifestyle and claimed Woodland area as my foundation. I found music at the age of 7, at an after school program as I lip sang to Ice- Ice Baby. Knowing that music was something I wanted to take seriously after listening to 106 jams on the radio and hearing artist like Ghetto Boys I found my own voice and picked up a mic at the age of 10. I was then reborn as Professor a.k.a Pro Wonder at the age of 13 in the wild hundred’s of Southside Chicago. I’ve always seen myself as a leader and a hustler, as I shuffled through four different high schools I founded Ill Nature Crew with two other aspiring MC’s. My pros often outweighed my cons. Struggling to settle into a school I opted to get my G.E.D instead. The Crew and my music kept me grounded, and temporarily out of the street life. Yet and still I continued to support myself financially since the age of 16. I am productive. The Crew went from three founders to 6 members then 6 to 20. We now have 30 members that floated in from the north side, the south side and the west side of Chicago. Other than Ill Nature Crew I also affiliate with Shakedownz Productions.
Motivation and the drive to influence myself and others positively is the basis of my music. As I grow and gain new understanding as an artist I work to educate and improve the community around me through my music. I work with two non-profit organizations promoting Aids awareness and prevention and also providing help to at-risk teens and first time parents. My music speaks life into those that feel like they are dying inside. My first music project, “Nothing to See”, hit the streets in 2004 when I was 24. Around this time I truly professed my dedication to my music. I sold cds in front of Halsted Mall on the Southside of Chicago for $10.00. I traveled to Miami and Long Beach and sold 568 copies of “Nothing to See”. I performed at the African Fest alongside UNI. I am proactive. I also performed every Thursday night at the Marqusie Room located on the Westside of Chicago. In 2006 I started selling a promo album “Now You See” in Detroit and Chicago for $5.00 with no album cover on it. To promote my new album Pros & Cons I put out another promo album “See What You See” and handed them out for free in Chicago, Jamaica and Miami. I am proficient. All of my work is copy-written. January 7, 2009 my new album Pros & Cons will hit the streets. Then another album “Deeper than Life” will surface in 2010. Until then I will continuously progress. I have an upcoming show this Dec 1st at a worldwide Aids event. I am essentially my music. My lyrics are my life. My experiences are procreation and with each experience and transformation within my existence I birth a new album. More hard hitting than the last, always soul searching and exposing the reality of the world. This is what Pros & Cons represents. This is what I represent.
