Details:
Reed Pittman is a singer/songwriter born and raised in Roswell, GA, and now lives in Nashville, TN. He’s worked with many artists as a pianist and back-up singer, seeing noted success as a both a local and touring musician. In the meantime, he has been working his own songs and style, and his record “Sunday Afternoon” introduces his first, fully produced effort into the industry. This record is loaded with clever pop melodies and stories that will have you singing along in no time; it’s piano-driven songwriting at it’s best.

Reed speaks of it in this way, “This music comes from my heart and some lessons I''ve learned in my short life here on earth. I hope it speaks to you in some way, and I''d love to hear from you about that. This is my expression, my catharsis.”

There is much to be said, whether it’s the heavy musings of the title track, “Sunday Afternoon,” the heartache and despair of “Limit,” or the beauty and promise in “Moonlight,” there are more than a few moments where you will be connected with the emotion of this project. There have been pivotal moments in the last year that have shaped Reed in some very different ways from what he grew up in. The loss of loved ones and some very dear relationships in his life initially hardened him some, but this project, recorded in the fall of 2008, was a very much a release of that energy. “This whole process has been a long time coming, putting out something that I could be proud of, that I could put in people’s hands, and say… ‘hey, this is me.” Reed adds, “When you grow up around love and strength like I had in my family, and meet the other side of the world, the dark, ugly side… it’s not always a cordial hello. I felt a serious smashing against my psyche and needed a place and an object to extract some of those emotions, and that materialized itself in this record.” The rawness and heart you hear in this EP is only magnified in Reed’s live performance, which has a subdued energy about it. This record, these songs, his voice will find a way into your personal jukebox before you know it.
