Details:
In only our first year of existence, WaterStreet has come a long way from playing our first gig in May of 2003. Playing a steady schedule of gigs, writing new material, and finishing our debut CD, we have been fortunate to gain a tremendous amount of experience in a short time. We credit many different genres of music for our distinctive sound, combining elements of classic rock, jazz, blues, and hip hop. Our five-piece band, consisting of two guitars, keyboard, bass, and drums, is made up of an exciting new group of musicians dedicated to spreading our music throughout the New England area and beyond.

WaterStreet is Matt Colasanti, Matt Greiner, Steve Blount, Dave Porter, and Krys Jackson, a group of Rhode Island natives ("The Biggest Little State in the Union, Rhode Island, Rhode Island"). WaterStreet, who''s name comes from the street on which our rehearsal space is located, came together early in 2003 after Colasanti, Greiner, and Blount had spent months playing local venues with a rotating cast of local musicians.

After many hours of rehearsal and songwriting (I''m talking a lot of hours here), we debuted at the Wheelhouse Tavern in Narragansett on May 17, 2003. After throwing together a homebrewed demo, we spent the summer playing as many shows in Providence, Bristol, Warren, Newport, and Narragansett as we could fit in our schedule. We began building our repertoire by creating and compiling original songs and writing new ones as a group. To this point we have about 25 original songs, with more being written and arranged as you read this.

We''ve spent our time since the fall of 2003 playing shows (2 to 3 a month) throughout Rhode Island and were excited to crack the New York music scene in February of 2004. We hope to spend the summer continuing to expand our fan base in the New York area and possibly touring throughout the Northeast. The fan support continues to grow and we''re thrilled to see more and more people being introduced our music.

Who Are These Guys??

The band members come from a variety of backgrounds. Guitarist and lead vocalist Matt Colasanti grew up in Barrington, RI. Matt has been singing and playing guitar since his high school days, learning the songs of the Counting Crows, the Police, Ben Harper, the Grateful Dead, and Phish. His strong vocal melodies give energy and a bright sound to the group.

Matt Greiner is the bassist for WaterStreet. He studied music at Berklee College of Music for a spell before being intoxicated by the groove. He is originally from Barrington, RI, but currently studies music business at New York University. His influences are Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Phish, Radiohead, the Grateful Dead, Miles Davis, A Tribe Called Quest, and so many other bands it frustrates him to think about it.

Steve Blount (Stevie BSide) is not only a free-styling fool, but a keyboard wizard to boot. Once again from Barrington, RI, he has a special interest in the hip hop game, helping to intertwine the band''s rock tendencies with a booty-shakin'' dose of the old school. Steve listens to the Allman Brothers, Ice Cube, A Tribe Called Quest, and Phish, but only when he''s not rocking out to rehearsal tapes.

Dave Porter plays the electric guitar and, man, does he play it. Dave has been developing his sound since early high school when his father would show him a thing or two. After hours of ripping Allman Brothers licks, he finally figured out how to play a little slide on the side. Like BSide, he''s largely self-taught. Dave''s influences are the Allman Brothers, Neil Young, Phish, Coldplay, and the Grateful Dead.

Krys Jackson is the newest member of WaterStreet. He joined the crew in November 2003 and is, sadly, the only non-Barrington native in the group. Krys spent his formative years in Cumberland, RI doing God-knows-what. The only thing confirmed at this point is that he can hit the skins right-nice. Not only does he play a kit with precision, but he''s also quite the percussionist. He''s spent a couple summers playing 6 days a week on Block Island and has years of gig experience under his belt. Krys loves John Fishman of Phish and Carter Buford from the Dave Matthews Band, which is why he''s so good.

We''re excited about the future and what it may bring. Keep an eye out for us in a town near you. See you there!
