BLUES: Acoustic Blues, BLUES: Delta Style

Details:
The Blues is a Very Old Style of Music.

Henry Thomas recorded "The Fishin'' Blues" in the
1920''s and recalled singing this song in medicine
shows when he was a young boy in the 1880''s.

I first heard Mance Lipscomb playing in the blues
revival of the 1960''s and wondered how one man on
a guitar could make so much music. I started
listening to earlier recordings of the blues from
the 1920''s and 1930''s and discovered many amazing
styles of playing from the gentle piedmont guitar
sounds of Mississippi John Hurt to the harsh and
sassy sounds of Son House playing delta blues.

I always thought of John Jackson as the last of the
great solo style blues players. In 1987 I heard that
John was teaching blues guitar in a summer program
at Davis/Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia
called "Augusta". I met John that summer and became
a student of his for the next 3 summers. John and I
became good friends and I returned to visit him
every summer for the next 15 years. I was a
silver/goldsmith by trade and made John''s slides for
him over the years. John passed away in 2002.

This CD is a variety of blues styles that I have
picked up over the years and includes a song on a
homemade "one string" diddley bow!
