Songs from "Into the World Unknown" have been featured on WXPN, in Philadelphia, WPKN, in Bridgeport, plus other stations since its release in 2002. Every song tells a unique story in this home studio effort with big studio sound. The Wilverines continue to record and perform in the Bucks County, PA area. Recently, a new Wilverines song ("Might Makes Right"), was featured for the full month of June 2004 on the Lord Litter Radio Show, broadcast from Berlin, Germany to the world. An MP3 of "Might Makes Right", with outro by Lord Litter (in German) can be heard on our band web site at https://www.tradebit.com.

"Doctor of Peace", from "Into the World Unknown" is the first in a string of political songs that permiate Will Rhodin''s songwriting efforts in our increasingly challenging times. Written after 9/11 but before the outbreak of the insanity of Bush''s war in Iraq, this song rings more true every day. The song begins as follows:

"I''m looking for a Doctor of Peace
Cause I''ve seen a lot of pain
Someone''s spreading it around
In the air again
I''m having the strangest dreams
I''ve got to stay awake
There''s so much going on
For God''s sake"

Anyway, let''s get back to the basics, starting with "what exactly is a Wilverine anyway?" We''ve been trying to figure that out for the past few years, ever since Paul Guerin, an old friend from college, answered Will''s email call for help in naming our band, and among the suggestions he sent was "The Wilverines." Clearly, there was little danger that we would be confused with some other band named The Wilverines in Denmark, Moscow or Perth Amboy, so that was a good start. How would people respond to this strange word? Is it serious or a joke? We looked it up on the Internet (just to make sure it wasn''t something on an endangered species list somewhere), and found one reference to Wilverines - a fan page dedicated to the University of Michigan Wolverines hockey team, only Wolverines was miss-spelled "Wilverines."

And the Wilverines were born. With David Voorhees on lead guitar and vocals, Kevin Moon on bass, Dave Reynolds on drums and vocals, and Will Rhodin on guitar and vocals, our music became a combination of Will''s folk-rock style and Dave, Dave and Kevin''s extensive jazz and blues influences. We''re not quite sure how to categorize it, but people seem to like it. Maybe we''ll just call it "Wilverbilly". OK, maybe not...

The Wilverines are an original folk/rock/jazz/blues band. Based in the Newtown, PA area, they play area area clubs, events and schools. "Into the World Unknown" is the Wilverines'' first CD.

Will Rhodin lives in Newtown PA and plays guitar, mandolin, harmonica and claims to sing.

David Voorhees lives in Hopewell, NJ, plays guitar and sings. He is a brilliant physicist and is probably working on some secret government project as we speak.

Kevin Moon has a PHD, plays bass, coaches cross country, refuses to sing most of the time, and lived in Africa in the Peace Corp. before joining George School as a math teacher.

Dave Reynolds has played drums in every smoky bar between Halifax and the Alamo, and there is no musician anywhere that he didn''t meet at least once. Ask him to tell you about that night in Tulsa (or any other city - he has a story for you!)
