Barbara Klaskin Harris is a traveling music teacher/songwriter, living in the Los Angeles area. She wrote most of the songs on "Celebrating Children" with the inspiration of poetry written by community leaders as well as the parents of some of her choir members.
"You can''t imagine what inspiration it was to take the love-crafted poetry of "closet poets" and setting their thoughts to music. One of the parent/poets(Dr. David Weiss) has his PhD in Education, another(Rex Altman,) is a lawyer. One of the community leaders, Mary Idella Coleman,is - in her "other life", the director of all the Urban league/Headstart Programs in Los Angeles County!"
The songs on Celebrating Children have been sung by school children across the country and the fan letters keep pouring in.
