Details:
"No one will be fed, no countries will be saved from tyranny, if you can swing. However, when a person has that higher regard for life and expresses it through music, then music becomes important."

-- Kenny Werner

Guitarists from every corner of the globe collaborate on this release to raise money for Heifer International. These are exciting, unique sounds -- but the influences of Larry Carlton, Mike Stern, Jaco Pastorius, Robben Ford, Carlos Santana and Joe Satriani are evident here! Raging chops, sensitive musings -- THIS DISC WILL TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE TO OPPOSITE POLES AND BACK AGAIN!

From the harmonic power of MAUCKPORT FUNK featuring former Blues Brothers sideman Jimmy Crimmins to the combination of rock and jazz styles of Francisco Mestre and Scott Lerner on CHARISMA -- from the legato guitar and bass wailing on WISCONSIN AVENUE to the all-out blues bombast of Perf DeCastro''s WHY DO I FEEL LIKE SMILING -- this disc will surprise and uplift you. TRULY SOMETHING FOR EVERY TASTE.

HOW IT HAPPENED ...

It was the first year of the new century, and hundreds of guitarists were participating in Sonic Foundry''s Best Guitarist on the Web contest. The contest is long over-- but a handful of contest participants from around the world united to produce this collaborative benefit CD for Heifer International.

The contest allowed guitarists to post and review each other''s music. Participants that fell in together to produce this disc include Perf DeCastro -- a platinum-selling artist with Sony Philippines; bassist P. Anthony Burgess; French rocker Francisco Mestre; LA composer Joaquin Gonzalez and Milwaukee, Wis.-based author and guitarist Charles Rathmann.

Other guitarists pulled into the project include blues guitar master Rockin'' Jimmy Crimmins, a former blues brothers and Albert King sideman; New Jersey Jazz genius Scott Lerner; ZEN GUITAR author Phil Toshio Sudo; Louisville-area producer and multi-instrumentalist Richard Young and Milwaukee audio engineer and mastering pro Eric Swanson.

Each player contributed tunes and/or burned solos on other guys'' tunes. BUY THE DISC and ENJOY THIS TASTY TOSSED SALAD OF MUSIC STYLES. ALL PROCEEDS TO HEIFER INTERNATIONAL:

"There is no sitting quietly music on this album. It is all very energetic, soulful and, above all, very powerful... My official pronouncement on Will Play Guitar For Food is this: this is a kickin'' album. It is non-stop, high-powered jazz and blues from start to end. You absolutely will not be disappointed, and you''re donating to a great organization to boot."
-- Derick Winterberg, https://www.tradebit.com

"The cause is clearly the most essential reason for giving this album a listen, but it does happen to include a few fine examples of solo bass/guitar mastery (which should inspire any guitar student on a dry spell)."
-- Graham Fons, Shepherd Express, Milwaukee
