Details:
Wyrmwood, The Past
Wyrmwood began 5 years ago as a five-piece band - vocals, bass, guitar, synth & live tribal drums. They played old school style Goth, with audible influences from The Cure, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Bauhaus, and Dead Can Dance. After about 3 ½ years and a lineup change, Wyrmwood had released 2 demos, Inceptum ("The Beginning" in Latin) and Exordium (in Latin, "The beginning of the web"). After a second line-up change, Wyrmwood became a two-piece featuring its original founding members. Ready for a change in style, they decided to explore a more electronic approach. Within the first 4-6 months Wyrmwood had completed another demo entitled "Graver," which consisted of remixes of older songs that had been played with the full band, but Wyrmwood ultimately decided it was time to revamp with all-new material, created by just the two remaining members. Their gothic style and old school influences always present, the band now concentrates on exploring new the new territories of darkwave and electronica. This brings us to Wyrmwood, the present.

Wyrmwood, the Present
Describing themselves as both darkwave and goth, Wyrmwood''s new debut CD, "Strange Angels" is a compelling journey through pain and sorrow, and ultimately self-reflection and spirituality. While the album''s lyrical content started out very dark and mystical at first, it changed and evolved as time went on to reflect something the band felt was greater, the power of God over all things. Wyrmwood wanted to create music with more energy, for themselves as well as for their audience, posing the situations and ideas in their music, but letting the listener interpret the meaning and experience their own reaction to it. There are a number of reasons the band chose its name, the first however being Aria''s love for a collection of short stories by Poppy Z. Brite entitled "Wormwood" (along with her other books), which always had a big impact on her. As time passed and things happened, both personally and spiritually, the band became aware of stories of wormwood in the biblical books of Lamentations and Revelation. It gave them goose bumps to read, and gave their music and their name all the more personal meaning.

Wyrmwood, the Future
Having already shared the stage with such legends as the Mission U.K. and Sex Gang Children, Wyrmwood plans to continue playing the music they love and believe in, in hopes that it touches someone out there. Knowing that just one person has felt touched or moved by the message, or just loves the music, makes it all worthwhile.

Wyrmwood are:
Aria: vox, lyrics, program.
Lysa: synth, beats, program.
