YOUNGJIRBO
Young Jirbo (Jibril Abdush-Shahid) was born on December 27th, 1986 in Harlem, New York. Jirbo is the youngest of eleven children. He was an honor student, and was also very much into music as a child. He was very much influenced by hip-hop at a young age with three of his older brothers already well known rappers in the NYC rap scene. However, it was not until Jirbo moved to Brooklyn that he began rapping. In the tenth grade, he began to gain confidence in his rapping skills and competed in mc battles on street corners around New York City. In the summer of 2003 he recorded his first song and never looked back since. "In my senior year of high school I ran into Wyclef and I was rapping for him. He was feeling my rhymes and wanted to hear me on wax, but I didn''t have any music on wax. That''s when I really started taking my music seriously and got in the studio immediately."
Later on that year he hooked up with Bronx based producer SNE, and began recording his debut album On Top of My Game. As Jirbo said, "This album is a mixture of my many influences like Jay-z, Nas, Eminem, Jadakiss, and Fabulous. I try and stay true to myself, and talk about real issues that effect me and that others can relate to. At the moment, Jirbo is selling his album at https://www.tradebit.com, and shopping his cd to record companies in search of a record contract. Currently you can find Jirbo performing at venues such as Club Speed and open mic performances around the New York City metropolitan area.
