Since 1989 Sandra Mangsen has taught musicology and historical keyboard at the University of Western Ontario, where she co-directs an active Early Music Studio. She has presented papers at numerous international conferences and has published articles and reviews in many professional journals, including Early Music, Early Keyboard Journal, Music & Letters, and Performance Practice Review. She contributed to The New Grove Dictionary (rev. ed, 2001) and has seen her work included in several essay collections. Her research has been supported by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Fulbright Commission. She is currently working on a book dealing with keyboard arrangements of baroque and late renaissance vocal repertoire, which she also enjoys performing.
Before arriving at the University of Western Ontario, Sandra taught at Queens University (Kingston, Ontario) and at McGill Universities; in 2004, she was visiting professor of harpsichord and keyboard performance practice at Temple University. She is active as a harpsichord continuo player, and performs regularly as solo and chamber musician. In addition to Entretiens, she has recorded cantatas and trio sonatas of Buxtehude with Mary Cyr and the late Allan Fast (McGill Records).
