Details:
What''s in a name? The Beatles. The Grateful Dead. The Wretched Urchins...(just made that one up)...Zan Zone. The Police...now there was a great band with a lame name. Zan Zone. This surprisingly unknown band has performed off and on over the last 15 years, in and around New York City. Currently, it survives with only its founder, Zan Burnham. Zan Zone released a CD in 1995, and a cassette EP in 1997. After seven long years, finally... there''s a new Zan Zone recording - an EP/CD. What''s in the music? Rock, funk, folk, blues, rap, jazz, etc., etc., etc., - it''s all in the mix. In 2005, why can''t it all be? The EP, "Watching The World", sparkles from Zan''s experience engineering and producing hundreds of songs for himself and for other artists. More recordings are planned, and gigs as well. New band members are being sought, horizons searched, and dreams imagined.
You know the drill: Come into The Zone.... The Zan Zone!

Critic''s quotes from the 1995 Zan Zone CD reviews:
"Impressive debut disc - a very cool little album" / "Promising 8-piece group" / "Way cool - First rate playing, grooves, and songs" / "A definite keeper" / "The music is solid, upbeat, and the vocals are great - One of the best CD''s I''ve reviewed - Everyone should check them out" / "Excellent production - Recommended" / Good ol'' U.S. pop-rock" / "Real excitement " / "A truly original CD" / "Zan Zone has something to say". These quotes appeared from 1995 - 1999 in Time And A Word, The Musician''s Exchange, Rockline, The Music Paper, The New Review, and Performing Songwriter.

ZAN ZONE - A SHORT HISTORY ---
Sometime in 1989 a backup singer from Venezuela offered up "Zan Zone" as an eclectic New York City rock band''s moniker. Led by Guitarist Zan Burnham, Zan Zone performed until 1997 in clubs such as The Bitter End, The Lone Star Roadhouse, CBGB''s, The Village Gate, Kenny''s Castaway''s, Acme Underground, Arlene''s Grocery, and The Pyramid, among others. In 1992, Zan Zone was the house band and booked all of the other bands upstairs at Fat Tuesday''s. Zan Zone released a CD in 1995 and an EP in 1997. The CD received critical acclaim, and the band often heard high praise from audiences over the years. Zan''s skillful work as a studio engineer and producer has been praised in a number of publications, and Zan''s songs have placed well in many songwriting contests.
A storefront psychic caught the band''s attention one evening on the way to a gig and oddly she predicted no immediate Grammy''s, but that almost all of the band members would have a bunch of children soon. It didn''t take long. By the late 1990''s, Zan Zone was sidelined with a bad case of the babies - over a dozen. Zan, himself, or rather, his wife, had two.
Now that the plague of babies has subsided, and after five years of making extensive home renovations, Zan Burnham is sending new musical lightning bolts into the monster that is Zan Zone. It is indeed alive. With a backlog of at least a half dozen albums ready to record, Zan, solo, has recorded and released "Watching The World", a four-song EP. Zan unleashes a a torrent of energy, damned for years, into this new disc. He currently performs songs from the EP as a solo act, but he is looking for other musicians to create a new zone - a neo-Zan re-Zone! Babies and pregnant women need not apply, this time.
